How do I make an appointment? Do I need a referral?
Caribbean Center for Child Development does not require a referral. To schedule an appointment you may contact us directly by telephone at 242-393-5963 or 242-676-6780. You can also email us at cccd@caribbeancenter.org
What should I expect in my first appointment?
During your first appointment, we will perform a detailed assessment of your current situation and background in order to gain an understanding of your needs. The assessment process may involve more than one session, depending on your particular case. Once completed, we will provide you with our initial impressions and recommendations, and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Is it necessary to travel to the center in order to receive services?
Our Speech-Language and Occupational therapists service some children at their schools. All other services are received at the Caribbean Center for Child Development, located on Soldier Road.
How long are sessions? How often would we meet?
Speech- Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy sessions generally occur twice a week for 30 minutes each. Sessions for counseling, family therapy and child/ adolescent therapy are predominately scheduled in one hour time slots once every two weeks.
Please note that these are just averages. A client may be served more or less frequently dependently on their needs.
Do you accept my insurance?
We request that payments be made directly from the client to the Caribbean Center for Child Development. Some clients may be reimbursed depending on their health coverage; our receptionist will help determine if you are eligible to be reimbursed.
Do you prescribe medications?
We have one psychiatrist on our team that is able to prescribe medications. As licensed psychologists and therapists, the remainder of our staff does not prescribe medication. We are, however, happy to work with psychiatrists and physicians in order to respect our client's choice to use medication.
